Cooly Rocks On 2012
Cooly Rocks On is Queensland’s biggest and best music and car festival and takes place in the Coolangatta- Tweed Heads region, within easy reach of our Elanora accommodation.
This June, the event will showcase over 1,000 vintage cars, classic cruisers and hot rods on the streets, parks and public spaces of Tweed Heads and Coolangatta, while the airwaves will be taken over by the sweet sounds of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Swing and Rockabilly. As well as fantastic live music and cars, the eleven day nostalgia celebration will feature an Elvis impersonation competition, dancers, pinup girls and surfing shows, transporting the two scenic seaside towns back to the days when Rock ‘n’ Roll ruled the world! There will also be several hundred market stalls where bargain hunters can pick up retro inspired gifts, vintage clothing and locally produced crafts.
For the Grand Finale weekend, the streets will be closed off to traffic to make way for a total of eight outdoor stages with live entertainment shows running all day until sunset.
The festival attracts an impressive 50,000 people to the Gold Coast area to soak up the fun and friendly atmosphere and celebrate all things 50s and 60s. If you want to join in the fun Bay of Palms Resort is the perfect base.
